East Coast Swing can be referred to by many different names in different regions of the United States and the World. It has alternatively been called Eastern Swing, Jitterbug, American Swing, East Coast Lindy, Lindy (not to be confused with Lindy Hop), and Triple Swing. The examples below are Double East Coast Swing which is good for fast and slow music. It is versatile and a little easier to learn than the Triple Swing.
American Social Foxtrot is widely used and performs perfectly on crowed dance floors. This is a close position dance that works well with a wide range of music. For more serious dancers you can use many of your step in Social Foxtrot in American Continuity (Progressive) Style also.
Salsa is popular in nightclubs, bars, ballrooms, restaurants, and outside, many times at outdoor events or festivals. It is a high energy dance that is lots of fun to do and great exercise as well.
Tango can appear to be a playful dance between two people. It is a passionate dance, and sometimes looks like a power struggle is going on in a sassy sexy way. Ballroom Tango is very different from the Argentine Tango.
Nightclub two step (NC2S, sometimes disco two step or California two step) is a partner dance initially developed by Buddy Schwimmer in the mid-1960s. The dance is also known as "Two Step" and was "one of the most popular forms of contemporary social dance" as a Disco Couples Dance in 1978.
